Geography: 

Sirajganj District is a district in the North Bengal region of Bangladesh, located in the Rajshahi Division. It is the 25th largest district by area and 9th largest district by population in Bangladesh. It is known as the gateway to North Bengal. It is famous for its hand-loom cottage industry. In 1885, Sirajganj emerged as a thana. Formerly under Mymensingh District in Dacca Division, it was transferred to Pabna District on 15 February 1866. It was upgraded to become a subdivision of Pabna in 1885. In 1984, it was upgraded to a district.

The district has several Beels (big water-bodies), the largest of which is Chalan Beel on the border with Pabna district. Sirajganj district is in the Jamuna River basin. The Jamuna forms the eastern border of the district. It contains numerous small chars (islands).

Economy: 

Agriculture 51.14%, non-agricultural labourer 3.99%, industry 11.05%, commerce 14.47%, transport and communication 3.02%, service 6.33%, construction 1.41%, religious service 0.21%, rent and remittance 0.42% and others 7.96%.
